Kate Symons

Kate began taking Reformer Pilates classes in 2010 after discovering that one of her favorite figure skaters used the method as strength training off of the ice. She found that the balance between logical, thoughtful movements paired with fluid, muscle lengthening exercises kept her engaged throughout each workout. In 2013, she completed certified instructor trainings in Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates through PHI Pilates. Kate earned Pilates apparatus certifications in Balanced Body’s Cadillac and Trapeze Tower, Chair, Arc and Barrels courses at Reforming NY, New York City shortly thereafter. Complimenting her pilates instruction competencies, she became a certified barre instructor in 2014 as well as a TRX Suspension training group instructor in 2015.

The pursuit of Kate’s academic career took her abroad to the EU and UK for several years. Living and teaching Pilates in Berlin offered her a sense of freedom to develop energetic, fusion-based workouts aimed at encouraging the mind-body approach to fitness she embraces today.

Kate values an inclusive, diverse, and positive studio environment to promote a holistic class experience for all. Kate’s classes stay dynamic and challenging by using props and modifications designed to meet you where you are on any given day. Her most important value in and out of the studio is kindness.  Come to classes not only for physical benefits, but to empower yourself to stay well.

Aside from teaching fitness, Kate likes to learn anything and everything.  She’s an information sponge and likes odd facts, history, biology, dogs, diplomacy and much more. She holds a BA, MA, PGCert, and is completing her MSW.
