Clinical Team

Penny Stern, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACOEM DiplABLM

Chief, Preventive & Lifestyle Medicine, Katz Institute for Women’s Health

Dr Stern is the Chief, Preventive & Lifestyle Medicine at the Katz Institute for Women’s Health and the Department of Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology, and Prevention. She leads Northwell’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) group as the AVP of Medical Education. Her Lifestyle Medicine practice is located at the Northwell Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine. Deeply involved in public health education, she routinely presents to dozens of community and workplace groups each year, as well as at various Northwell sites.

Integrative Health and Wellness Coach

Deborah McElligott, DNP, ANP-BC, AHN-BC, HWNC-BC, CDE, is a board certified Adult and Holistic Nurse Practitioner, an Integrative Health and Wellness Coach and a Certified Diabetes Educator. Her nursing career spans 40 years (30 with Northwell) with experience in Cardiac Surgery, Integrative Medicine, Administration and Education.

Maryjo has been in the fitness industry for over 25 years, holding various positions. She began her studies in Pilates, both Mat and Reformer in 2007. Maryjo is trained through Advanced Mat, Advanced Reformer, and Chair. She began her training with PHI Pilates. She completed her advanced training in Mat and Reformer with Scott Pilates. Maryjo is also certified with the Athletics & Fitness Association of America.

Kate began taking Reformer Pilates classes in 2010 after discovering that one of her favorite figure skaters used the method as strength training off of the ice. Since then Bill has been teaching with enjoyment, energy and dedication, and maintains a daily practice. Quite a switch after a long career as a data expert on Wall Street.

She is a Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner, Energy Medicine Practitioner, with certifications in Yoga, Tai Chi, Emotional Freedom Tapping, Barre, Cycling and Fitness.
