Yoga is an ancient and powerful system of transformation and self-realization that has enhanced millions of lives. People practice yoga for many reasons: improved flexibility or focus, strengthening or healing, weight loss, restoration or relaxation, greater connection to self and others, and an experience of inner peace, balance and well-being.

At the Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine, we offer a variety of yoga classes to suit your personal ability, inspiration and desire. We also know that this can change from day to day. Our expert instructors ground their teaching in the lineages of Hatha Yoga, specifically the vinyasa (“flow”) and alignment styles of yoga. They pay special attention to proper breath, structural precision and movement. We offer a slow, gentle method in some classes, while others are taught in a more vigorous style.

Align & Flow Yoga

This class focuses on specific alignment within each pose, enabling the student to create healthy alignment patterns while correcting old habits. Attention to the breath and movement is also emphasized. Appropriate for all levels.

Cardiac Yoga®

Cardiac Yoga® is a gentle and modified form of yoga for assistance in physical, mental and emotional healing. Hatha Yoga Basics

Start to receive the many proven benefits of a yoga practice here! Take the time to learn step-by-step the physical vocabulary of hatha yoga poses in an unhurried and noncompetitive space. Introduction to yoga philosophy, breathwork and meditation and more will be explored. Great for new students! Open to all levels.

Iyengar Yoga

Begins with basic standing pose and moving to forward/back bends, twists, inversions, restorative poses, pranayama (regulated breathing), and more; this class will develop strength, stamina, concentration, coordination, and flexibility. May use props such as blankets, blocks, and belts. Open to all levels.

Kundalini

Mysore

The Ashtanga Yoga method is built around the ‘Mysore Style’ class, so named because yoga was taught this way by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in Mysore, India, and continues to be taught this way in traditional Ashtanga Yoga schools around the world.

In Mysore Class, the student is taught a sequence of postures through one-on-one instruction. The correct movements, breathing and other aspects of the practice are learned gradually. Students are able to practice independently and at their own pace while surrounded by the energy and inspiration of other students in the room. The student learns, memorizes the sequence and thus becomes aware and invested in their progress physically, mentally, and spiritually. Developing your own sadhana (personal practice) frees you to take it with you anywhere. It is appropriate for all level of practitioners.

Private sessions or custom classes are the perfect learning situation for yoga students of any level who prefer to focus on their practice in a more intimate setting. The student enjoys the undivided expert attention of our experienced teachers who craft a class specific to their needs. This is recommended for anyone from the new student who wishes to get comfortable with the practice before venturing into group classes to the seasoned practitioner looking to tweak, hone and excel in their practice.

Therapeutic Yoga

Classes are personal and structured to honor each individual student exactly where they are in treatment. In a safe and comfortable atmosphere, classes are often taught in chairs, offer patients relief, support and inspiration for healing during treatment. An important goal of Therapeutic Yoga is to teach self-regulating techniques that can relive the distressing side effects of cancer and improve sleep, mood and coping.
